City of Neosho should hold Mold accountable

Mold discovered inside City of Neosho city hall earlier this year prompted Neosho City Manager Jan Blase to divert MO-DOT money for mold clean up and other expenses instead. The mold was discovered in January 2009. City officials say the cost to remove the mold was $270,000 with the money coming from an already tight budget.

City manager Jan blasé and finance director Bob Blackwood have been charged with official misconduct from Blase’s use of Neosho’s hotel/motel tax and that usage is being audited.

Results of the state audit of Neosho’s finances in 2009 was released by Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich at a public meeting set for 6 p.m. at the Civic Center, 109 W. Main St. on July 24, 2011. The 33-page report highlights issues with fund management, and failure to follow city policies.
