Millions Awarded to Mold Victims

Homeowners, Theresa Koziell and Teresa Perrini won a suit in 2003-for economic damages, including loss of real property and medical expenses. The $3.4 million was awarded for for noneconomic damages, including “past and future post traumatic stress disorder” and “loss of life’s pleasures.” The suit was levied against the township and a private contractor Friday accused of causing a toxic mold problem in the home because of flooding following a township road project in 2002. The road resurfacing project caused water to drain onto homeowners’ property, spawning several different types of mold that infiltrated their Nashotka Road home. Mold ruined the home and created health problems for the homeowners.
