Problems in Tracking Mold issues

The moldy smell or obvious mold growth in damp buildings can indicate some molds are known to be related to human pathogens. Science and the law are not in complete agreement due to lack of direct causal proofs (and the difficulty of proving the direct cause in a mold litigation case. Because there is legitimate concern regarding the potential health effects of moldy indoor environments, many studies of moisture- and mold-damaged buildings have been done.

There exists a clear relationship between fungal contaminated environments and illness, but proving cause and effect results in confusion. There is difficulty in isolating specific fungi, difficulty in measuring mycotoxins, as well as difficulty in assessing non-mycotoxic related allergic response (which can be equally as devastating.)
